Church of the convent Klosterkirche

The neo-Gothic church, inaugurated in 1862, was designed by the master builder K.A. Flaminius. Miraculously, it survived the devastation of the town in 1945.
The church of the convent is in fact the third church to stand at this point. The first one was destroyed by the Hussites in 1429, while the second one was demolished in 1860, due to its dilapidated state. After years of restoration, it became possible in 2003 to again see the church in all of its splendour. Particularly worth attention are the stained glass windows designed by the Berlin artist Helge Warme. Their design takes as its theme the protestant hymn “Jesu, meine Freude” written in 1653 by Johann Frank (text) and Johann Crüger (melody), both of whom were Gubeners.
