The Promenade at the so-called “Dreieck” (triangle) is the main junction of Guben’s city centre.
The C.G.Wilke hat factory, in the very heart of the city, lay waste for a long time, but after the completion of its rebuilding and refurbishment, the former production areas now house the town hall, library and the Johann Crüger music school. The old dye-works on the old factory grounds, with their three characteristic smoke-stack hoods, have become a symbol of the town and now serve as a multifunctional hall, which has grown to be a favourite place for art events.
Citizens can immortalize themselves by having their details inscribed on one of the bricks in the ground before the town hall. In addition, the town welcomes newborn children by dedicating a brick to them.
