Krosno Odrzańskie

The town of Krosno is located about 40 kilometres from Guben and Gubin, directly on the Oder. The medieval town is surrounded by a natural landscape that has many hills and valleys, and many sights to offer. The Catholic parish church of the Virgin Mary “Kościół Najświętszej Marii Panny” in the centre is a late Gothic building, which was rebuilt in the 18th century in baroque style. Nearby is the 12th and 13th century Piast Castle. The renovated gatehouse contains a regional museum with exhibits of old Krosno, and an art gallery featuring local artists. Near the Piast Castle are preserved fragments of the old town wall from the 13th and 14th centuries. The architecture of the historical buildings and the natural environs creates a unique atmosphere. The construction of the Krosno river-port as a port-castle complex facilitates sport and art events on the bank of the Oder. The church “Świętego Andrzeja” (Saint Andrew) is also located on a picturesque hill on the edge of the town.

The 100-year-old iron bridge over the Oder joins the old town with the northern part of the town, which is situated much higher. Up here lies the Park Tysiąclecia (Millenium Park), from which you have a marvellous view of the old town below.
