Lubsko

One of the oldest towns in the region is Lubsko. By 1258, the town had already been mentioned in documents. It’s situated on the Lubsza river, about 30 kilometres southeast of Gubin, in the Zary district. Well worth seeing is the well-rounded town centre, which has been formed by trade and industrialization, but is preserved in its marvellous historical shape with a market place and church. Enjoy the composition of the church’s gothic shapes, the Renaissance town hall and the façades of the residential and business houses. In the Dłużek district, fragments of the medieval town wall and the castle show the history, Auguste Viktoria, the wife of the last German Kaiser, was born in the castle. Old maple and plane trees by the river, and a park on the east side of the town, create a green oasis for locals and visitors.
