Gubin - culture centre

East of the Church there is the former Guben town hall. As early as in the 13th century the town Guben was granted the right to build a town hall which can be considered a sign for an independent community. In 1502 a town hall was rebuilt from the Gothic hall which existed there  before, and in about 1672 it was changed again in the style of the late Renaissance. At that time, the three gables were added which still exist today. World War II did not spare the town hall, it was severely damaged. It took nearly 10 years to build it up again. Since 1986 the hall has  been home to the town library and the culture centre of Gubin with a big event hall. Already in 1924 a restaurant was opened on the ground  floor of the building at the request of many Guben citizens. Today there is a restaurant again in the vault of the cellar of the town hall which  invites the guests to try regional Polish dishes.
