Along the Neiße flood­plains to the River Oder

Fol­low the Oder-Neiße Cycle Path to get to the vil­lage dis­trict of Groß Breesen. Turn right here and fol­low the course of the River Neiße until you reach Ratz­dorf. The path goes through idyl­lic flood­plains along the Neiße Dam. The vil­lage of Ratz­dorf is a for­mer sail­ing vil­lage at the estu­ary of the River Neiße into the River Oder. Depend­ing on the water level, dur­ing high sea­son it is pos­si­ble to go on trips by pas­sen­ger ship on the River Oder. The water-gauge house, stand­ing on a raised stone plat­form, came to be very famous dur­ing the flood­ing of the River Oder in 1997. The nearby vil­lage of Wellmitz has a unique ceme­tery, where vis­i­tors can find four leg­endary stone crosses, medieval pen­i­tence crosses. The path con­tin­ues via Bres­lack to Coschen. From Coschen you can fol­low the Oder-Neiße Cycle Path back to Guben. A quarry lake in the vil­lage dis­trict of Bresinchen is a per­fect spot to relax and go for a swim before you reach the town of Guben again.
